Importing Slides

Import slides to a presentation, without losing original formatting.

Merging slides from one presentation into another is a useful feature of presentation applications - why reinvent the wheel when you can copy / paste?

You may have noticed that when you add a slide from another presentation, the colors and backgrounds change ... but they don't have to.

To embed slides from another file and force them to keep their original formatting:

  1. In your presentation, select Insert > Slides from Files...
  2. Choose Browse. Select the file containing charts you want to insert.
  3. Check the box "Keep source formatting"
  4. Select a few slides to import and click Insert, or select Insert All
  5. The slides will be inserted into your original presentation. Use the Slide Sorter view (Select View > Slide Sorter) to view all the slides in your presentation and drag slides to rearrange their order.

The inserted charts come into the merged presentation complete with their own Slide Master and Color Scheme.  This is a new feature of Microsoft PowerPoint 2002.
